Reno 911!: The Hunt for QAnon
OVERALL: Oh Reno 911!, you never disappoint. The Hunt for QAnon made me and husband Scott laugh out loud, long and often. The silliness of the series combined with the idiocy of QAnon makes for comedic gold. Oh and they are also on a cruise ship so that will add to people’s laughter. It is wild and outrageous and just so good. A friend of mine has said this show is their new happy place. I can so see why. I think I will need to watch it again.
Scott Says: It was brilliant, disruptive comedy. A bunch of good laughs, good character development. It was just fun. A nice little break for a holiday afternoon. (Note: Scott is not squeamish. See PITFALLS below.)
POINTS: The cast. Let us celebrate this cast. I don’t know how they film this show at all as I would be rolling laughing and cringing non-stop. Let us also praise the comedic acting chops
PITFALLS: Ok, and this is just me, just me, but I am very prissy so when they start with the bathroom and sex jokes, I cringe. Again, just me, and yes it is funny! It is not really a
FEMALE CHARACTER(S): This ensemble piece has many fun, well-drawn, characters and yes they are women characters as well as men. J We have Dept. Trudy Weigel (Kerri Kenney), Dept. Raineesha Willaims (Niecy Nash), Dept. Clementine Johnson (Wendi McLendon-Covey), and Dept. Cherisha Kimball (Mary Birdsong) all have extreme character quirks and fantastic comedic acting chops. No matter what character is on screen you know you will laugh – even if they just raise an eyebrow. They are all so fun and goofy and just wow. I salute their work.
CULTURAL PITFALL(S): What is fun about 911! is that it questions and makes absurd prejudices and cultural bigotry.
HIGH POINT(S): Just watching the 911! Cast doing their thing again is joy enough.
BECHDEL TEST (Website): 2 of 3. Which is odd because there are many women characters but as this is an ensemble piece, the conversations are always involving the male characters as well.
RACIAL BECHDEL TEST (Website): 3 of 3. Yup. J
DVD/BLU-RAY and/or PURCHASE STREAMING WORTHY: Yes. Just do I can hear Scott giggle if the Internet goes out.
LION PAW PRINTS: 3 of 5. Enjoy
