The Highwaymen
OVERALL: So good. This movie combines crime drama, period drama, and just good old acting at its best drama. I also liked it because it seemed to be more truthful about Bonnie and Clyde. And Costner and Harrelson are at the top of their acting game. Plus I loved seeing Kathy Bates as a governor in the 1920s. So cool.
My only sorrow was when this ended. I wanted to watch more.
See it.
POINTS: Very well made. Oh and I would watch a show with Costner and Harrelson paired up again.
PITFALLS: None.
FEMALE CHARACTER(S): Kathy Bates rules. She plays a Governor called Ma Ferguson. Such power! I like that they showed a woman in power who really embodies the power. That isn’t seen often, where the woman who is in power is portrayed by a woman who can convey that power. Oh well done.
CULTURAL PITFALL(S): Well this is definitely a period piece. You can feel the 20s and the poverty in this movie.
HIGH POINT(S): This film captures a time and place. You feel as though you are living the true hunting down of Bonnie and Clyde. It feels like an experience.
BECHDEL TEST (Website): 1 of 3.
RACIAL BECHDEL TEST (Website): I think 0 of 3.
