Movie Review: “Lions for Lambs”

OVERALL: Good, well made movie.

POINTS: Cast and crafting. Robert Redford directed this so it is beautifully made. The cast – Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, and Tom Cruise – are all good actors and it shows in this flick. This movie is carried by acting and dialogue. So very good.

PITFALLS: Well, I’m not sure there was a struggle in the movie. Since it was about the lies of the war in Iraq, no matter what was said, it would seem heavy handed. Good movie, but it missed something.

FEMALE CHARACTER(S): Meryl Streep plays Janine Roth. I like that the journalist in the movie was a sympathetic character.

CULTURAL PITFALL(S): Hmmmmm…. If you don’t like the politics of this movie, you won’t like the movie.

HIGH POINT(S): Good performances and well made.

BECHDEL TEST (Website): 1 of 3 – I think. We only really have Meryl Streep in the movie but there isn’t really any interaction with other women in the movie. Huh. Oh well.

RACIAL BECHDEL TEST (Website): 3 of 3. Wow. Very cool.
