OVERALL: OMG I love this show!!!!!

POINTS: This is so much fun on so many levels. It even challenges sexual stereotypes! Whoo hooo!!! Plus it makes me laugh.

PITFALLS: It isn’t on DVD and therefore can’t purchase it. ARGH!

FEMALE CHARACTER(S): Oh goodness yes!!!!!! There’s Lula, Candy, Fang, not to mention secondary characters of Mrs. Gert Bogmelon and Princess Irmaplotz. They are all fun and often challenge typical stereotypes. Even Candy the typical girly girl can hold her own in a battle

CULTURAL PITFALL(S): Well, hmm… Ok, it does feel like a European style animated show but hey, as I state again below, there are varying degrees of color and shade to the characters so you could say that there are many colors in the show. Still, I love the show.

HIGH POINT(S): 1.) Quotes: “I’m not a monkey!”; “Ya-him-bo-hee!”, “I’m Dark Lord Chucklez the Silly Piggy!”. 2.) Dave’s Contradictions. Dave is the strongest barbarian and great warrior and yet would rather clean, sing, and make peace. So good. 3.) Twinkle the Marvel Horse. OMG a sparkly magical flying horse that talks like Christopher Walken. If you don’t laugh every time Twinkle opens his mouth and talks about the barn, well goodness, I will worry about you. 4.) Lulu. A talk sword with a serious attitude = joy. 5.) Faffy. The family pet dragon. He’s the “Bill the Cat” version of a dragon. O.M.G. 6.) The villain is a self-proclaimed “silly piggy.”

BECHDEL TEST (Website): 3 of 3 and yay!! Granted it is not on the Bechdel Test Website but I have watched it  many times and women talk about all kinds of things with each other all the time. Cool. 🙂

RACIAL BECHDEL TEST (Website): Alas this focuses on white European style barbarians. Granted there are varying shades of the characters as it is an animated show, but I don’t know if that qualifies for the show to pass.
