OVERALL: Yes. This is the Wolverine movie we devoted Marvel fans have waited for. Well done.
POINTS: This movie was a beautiful send-off to a character and an era of movie making. It was perfect.
PITFALLS: Nope. None.
FEMALE CHARACTER(S): Our star is of course Laura played beautifully by Dafne Keen. Such a powerful, visceral, feral character played to perfection. I so want to see more of her. Also well done Elizabeth Rodriguez as Gabriela and Elise Neal as Kathryn Munson. All hail the healers.
CULTURAL PITFALL(S): Hmm… The X-Men story has always been one about bigotry and oppression. This movie put that right in the audience’s face. Well done.
HIGH POINT(S):
1.) Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. He OWNS the role and INHABITS the character. I remember the first time I saw him as Wolverine. I thought to myself “Yes! They got this right!”
2.) Sir Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier. This movie was also a beautiful send-up for Professor X as well.
3.) Dafne Keen. Just WOW!
