Ant-Man
OVERALL: Oh huzzah! That was fun! Go see it!
POINTS: Well put together. It was a good story well executed and the actors worked well together. It was better than many of my crew expected and I, expecting the best, got it. 🙂
PITFALLS: There was one edit that was jumpy – where the scene cuts did not make sense. This cut made the actors look like they were playing the end of the scene at the beginning. Oh well.
FEMALE CHARACTER(S): Thoroughly enjoyed Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne. Hooray! I’ve been wanting to see her in more muscular – for lack of a better word – roles because I sensed she had an action hero in her. I am right. I am looking forward to seeing her in future Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. I am so hoping!!!!
There were two other women – Maggie Lang played by Judy Greer and Cassie Lang played by Abby Ryder Fortson – who are the ex-wife and daughter of hero Scott Lang. They were traditional characters in that they were the typical ex-wife and child daughter. They did end up being different than expected at the end so that was nice.
CULTURAL PITFALL(S): It would have been nice to have some more female characters but it was nice to see many in the background as scientists and other characters.
HIGH POINT(S):
1.) Cast. Oh huzzah to everyone on the cast. Everyone was perfect in their roles. Well done, well done, well done! Extra tip of the hat to Michael Peña as one of the three “sidekicks”. He was very funny.
2.) Paul Rudd as Scott Lang who becomes Ant-Man. He was perfect. He carried a super hero movie without being a typical superhero. He was funny, self-effacing. He was a fully realized character and he deserves a lot of credit.
3.) Overcoming. This movie had a rough go of it with directors and writers changing. There was thought that this movie would not be any good. But hoorah. Marvel triumphed again and Ant-Man was a treat. Well done everyone.
4.) Avengers References. Oh it was so good to see and hear the Avengers: Age of Ultron references! Judging by the audiences’ reactions when I saw it, others were pleased by this too.
5.) Falcon. Huzzah for Falcon! Oh Anthony Mackie is just perfect. Powerful, smart, and funny. He was a wonderful addition to the movie and everyone loved seeing him.
6.) Peggy Carter. OMG!! We have a brief scene at the beginning of the movie where we get to see Peggy Carter – played by the fabulous Hayley Atwell. it was so great to see her. We even got to see Howard Stark (John Slattery) in the beginning and that is also good.
*SPOILER ALERT!*
OMG – Wasp!!!
BUCKY!!!!!!
