TV Review: “Killjoys”

OVERALL: Holy goodness this show is crazy good! Is this really TV?

POINTS: The whole show is excellent.

PITFALLS: If this were a Netflix show, I could have watched it all by now. As it is by the time you read this post I will only have seen three episodes.

FEMALE CHARACTER(S): Yes. Dutch, played by Hannah John-Kamen, is pretty much the leader of this group of killjoys, aka bounty hunters, and oh wow is she fun! Plus I am looking forward to more of her back story. She and her male comrades treat each other as equals and that is very enjoyable.

CULTURAL PITFALL(S): I’ll let ya’ know.

HIGH POINT(S): All of it. What really impresses Hubby and myself is the technical aspects of the show. Each week is like watching a movie because the filming is so beautiful. The use of color on this show is amazing. Just watch the show for how a talented technical crew can tell you everything with color, framing, and texture. Film school and telecom students: take note.

Also salutes go to Aaron Ashmore as John and Luke Macfarlane as D’Avin. Cast works well together and hooray! They don’t all look alike.

BECHDEL TEST (Website): 3 of 3 right off the bat! Huzzah! Though this may change with each episode, it was nice to see this in the pilot.
