Enjoy this Monday with Mildred!
The story of a small group of people roaming a dystopian, post-apocalypse countryside, I have to say it’s a pretty good movie. At first I thought the whole shot-in-sepia thing was awfully pretentious, with the one flashback in full color, but after a while it really works. It’s a pretty bleak movie, so sepia absolutely works. The soundtrack is relentless, simple minded, and gets under your nerves in the way it should on this movie, so that works as well. The acting is standard, though I got the idea they thought they were pretty outstanding, and the writing relies heavily on the actors being able to work “Fuck!” into every sentence. The set is a fantastic old farm house, one of my favorite parts of the film.
Nothing surprising happens (except leaving the zombies at home), including the end, but if you like that kind of film I think you’ll like this.
