OVERALL: Fun fun fun, creepy fun. Make sure you keep your eyes on the screen too. There is a lot of subtlety in the visuals and sound. You don’t want to miss it.
POINTS: Good acting, fun and simple visiuals, and it gives you the chills. Plus a little dash of conspiracy theory as well as well heck monsters and outer space. Note: This movie is done in the style of Blair Witch Project, which for me means hand held camera and sound. Now no, I don’t think this movie would make you sick if Blair Witch did as the camera is less jerky.
PITFALLS: Nope.
FEMALE CHARACTER(S): What female characters? Ok, we saw some wives in the background and heard their voices a few times. Plus the men do talk and mostly favorably about the ladies. This however is not surprising considering the movie takes place in the ’70s and women weren’t flying in the space program those days.
CULTURAL PITFALL(S): See Female Characters above. Same applies to people of color as well. Again not surprising considering the event and time. Glad things have changed. 🙂
HIGH POINT(S): {*POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT*} Ok, I’ll be honest, I grew up watching Star Trek so of course I wanted to go into space for most of my life. Then I watched the movie Apollo 13 and the minute Tom Hanks said “Houston we have a problem” my psyche has put a big Oh No Way (OHW) marker on me going into space. So as I watched this movie I got to experience my ONW psyche marker mixed with my Oooooo Let’s Make Friend! (OLMF!) psyche marker. As much as I would LOVE to meet a new species I think I would want to do it from the comfort of my own planet. 🙂 With everything in tact too. {*END*}
