OVERALL: Masterful. Absolutely masterful. From start to finish this movie shows was masterful movie crafting is all about.

POINTS: Great storytelling and master acting. Master acting people! If you teach acting, make students study the scenes between Molly Bloom and Charlie Jaffey (Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba). THAT’S GREAT ACTING!! Plus the script flowed perfectly, the visuals were spot on, and all the other actors were good too.

PITFALLS: I’ll let you know.

FEMALE CHARACTER(S): This is a movie about Molly Bloom a real life amazing life woman. So this movie is all about her. She is not a traditional heroine – finding a man is not her goal – and she is fascinating. Plus there are a lot of other cool women around her. And she treats the women who work for her very well. No wonder they are loyal. 🙂 Jessica Chastain RULES as Molly. 

CULTURAL PITFALL(S): More People of Color in the background. However lawyer Charlie Jaffey is played by Idris Elba and that is AWESOME!

HIGH POINT(S): As I stated above in POINTS MASTER ACTING! Want to know what that looks like? Just watch the first meeting scene between Molly and Charlie. The change of tone, rhythm, tactics, pacing. OMG! It is like a REAL conversation! Yet because two Master Actors are doing their thing and working their craft to the hilt, you LEARN so much about them. So freaking awesome. Watch it and learn.

BECHDEL TEST (Website): 3 of 3. Huzzah!

RACIAL BECHDEL TEST (Website): 2 of 3. Nice moments between African-American father and daughter even though Molly was also there.
