Another Voice: Nocturnal Animals & the metaphor of fat women.
The movie Nocturnal Animals crossed my path when I was reading about Arrival.* So when this article in my Google news feed I knew I had to read it. After reading the article, I am glad I haven’t seen, nor do I intend to see, Nocturnal Animals. Fat hatred and phobia – especially directed against women – is as toxic as racism and sexism. Get over it.
I am posting the below article written by Your Fat Friend. I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.
Nocturnal Animals & the metaphor of fat women.
A letter to Tom Ford from a fat moviegoer.

Keep on writing, Your Fat Friend. And I’m right there with ya’.

Since I didn’t want to promote the movie Nocturnal Animals, due to its fat hatred, I decided to use a picture of animals that like to come out at night. They are much friendlier.
*Which I loved and will review soon.
Go here and feel better. See beautiful pictures taken by the late Leonard Nimoy who wanted to challenge modern concepts of beauty: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/gallery/2015/mar/03/the-full-body-project-by-leonard-nimoy-in-pictures
Yes yes a thousand times yes!! Those are wonderful pictures! BEAUTIFUL with all caps. 🙂
AND! Those women are so beautiful you just want to touch their beautiful flesh because you know they would be so soft. Of course no touching without consent but that is what those pictures evoke for me. 🙂
