OVERALL: I’ve seen it twice in three days. It’s the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course I loved it. 🙂 I LOVED IT!!! I’m hooked on a feeling about this movie. 🙂

POINTS: Fun, fun, fun, great adventure, fun.

PITFALLS: ….. Give me a moment, I’m thinking… Oh yeah. Raccoons are the Spawn of Satan. So yes I found it a big uncomfortable when I found myself totally identifying with and understanding Rocket.

FEMALE CHARACTER(S): Yup. Our main heroine is Gamora played by the ever awesome Zoe Saldana, is sooo much fun! We also have Glenn Close protecting her portion of the galaxy as Nova Prime. Let us not forget Nebula, smoothly played by Karen Gillan. The ladies have fun in this movie and it shows. I mean, this movie has a “get charged up scene” to the song Cherry Bomb!!!! YAY!!!!

CULTURAL PITFALL(S): It would have been good to see more PoC. 

HIGH POINT(S):

1.) Director James Gunn. There were times watching this movie when I thought “Wow, this movie could totally bomb were it not for a talented director.” Huzzah to you sir!!! You steered your talented cast and crew perfectly. This movie is a gem and I enjoyed it very much.

2.) Zoe Saldana as Gamora. Oh she made me smile! In fact, everyone in the cast made me smile and did very well.

3.) The Soundtrack. OMG this is such goooooood music! First the music is perfect for each scene/moment. The mood and rhythm of the songs fit so well every time they are used. Not too surprising since classic rock from the 70s is being used. Ah the  music of my childhood. Love it!!! In fact, I downloaded it and have been playing it every day.

4.) Cherry Bomb. OMG. When this song appeared in a trailer I could barely contain myself. This is a history making song, ladies and gentlemen. One of the first all women bands with a hit. Huzzah!!!! You can enjoy it in the video below.

5.) Nicole Perlman. It is nice that a woman wrote the treatment for this movie that caught Kevin Feige‘s eye which made the movie happen. It’s just good to see that. Oh and I hear she wrote a treatment for a Black Widow movie. That’s a hing Marvel. 😉
